Chinese Medical Universities are increasing in popularity among Indian students, according to a report released Wednesday, May 30, by the China MBBS Educational Institution.
China MBBS Educational Institution presents statistics from 2000-01 and 2010-11 in the 50 MCI recognized Medical Universities in China.
The number of Indian students enrolling in the region’s universities has more than doubled in the last decade. Indian students now represent more than one in ten students, up from one in 20 ten years ago.
“The increase in the number of Indian students has been remarkable, and it has helped to keep overall university enrolment stable in the region at a time when fewer medical students are enrolling,” said Becky Zhang, VP – China MBBS Educational Institution.
China MBBS Educational Institution attracts students all over the states in India, and there has been a great deal of variability in student origin. For example, five years ago, India was not in the top 10 sending countries to China, but today it is ranked almost second in the category of foreign students studying in China. The introduction of a Seminar program in India by CMEI, supporting MBBS studies in China likely explains this jump.
“When they come to the China to study, Indian students are much more interested in studying in MBBS / medicine degree programs,” said Ms. Zhang.
In MBBS degree programs, for example, they make up a quarter of the student body. At the graduate level, nearly half of medical and engineering sciences students have come to study from India.
The China MBBS Educational Institution was established in 2009 to help institutions and governments improve MBBS degree education. Visit the China MBBS Educational Institution at http://www.chinambbs.org/ for more information.
