Why so hype about only 45 varsities permitted to teach MBBS in English in China?

Recently the Ministry of Education of China had to put up in a notice and send to Indian Embassy, what they had already declared years ago. There is too much of hype going on, that now Indian students who wish to study MBBS in China, can ONLY study the degree course in 45 listed Universities in English medium.

However, this rule has been in use since quite some years now from the Ministry of Education of China, you can even look up on the MCI website where the universities are listed before 2016-17. But lots of local agents in India and some non-listed universities in China came up with some sort of get-away ideas about ‘bilingual course’. There is NO SUCH course which is taught in China’s education system.

In China, Clinical Medicine is either in English medium OR in Chinese Medium and the other English medium course is Clinical Integrative Medicine, which includes Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine.

The Ministry of Education of China had to again mention this rule in a PUBLIC NOTICE, only because lots of local agents in India have been misguiding the students and parents about the bilingual courses in China. This is very important step and useful decision made by the MoE, which makes it clear for the students who wish to come to study medicine in China, in future.

Now if the students wish to study medicine in China in English medium, then they have two options, one to get admissions in the 45 listed medical universities of China which ranges from 3 lakhs to 8 lakhs fees per year. The other option to study in English medium would be to choose the Clinical Integrative Medicine course, which is also recognized by MCI and includes clinical practice of TCM and Western Medicine.

Currently this medicine course is taught in English medium in two Universities :
Shanxi Medical University which ranges from 2.5 lakhs to 4 lakhs fees per year and Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine which is around 2.5 lakhs to 2.8 lakhs per year.
